The Lowton Butter Dish

Regular price $70.00 Sale

This hand-built butter dish has been crafted out of an earthy, stoneware clay and hand painted in a soft, white tone. Speckles of the clay can be seen peeking through the glaze to give this piece a speckled snow appearance. I can imagine the Lowton butter dish resting calmly on many a table, during a family breakfast time right through to a high tea celebration. This piece fits a standard, rectangular block of butter.

Named after the village that I grew up in, Lowton is a place in the north of England, in the county of Cheshire. The word Lowton derives from the old English word  "tun" meaning farm. Surprisingly when I was thinking of a name for this piece I actually thought about calling it the farmhouse butter dish.

Each piece is individual, bearing the same colours and similarities, with subtle differences in glaze and size.
All items are food safe and dishwasher safe. Please remember that hand-washing is always kinder to your hand-crafted item.
