This piece is part of the Little Tree Collection. It has been handmade using a dark, stoneware clay, slab-built and hand manipulated to create the form. The clay has been textured using tree bark to give the effect of a little tree. It has been hand-painted in a creamy, white tone, light speckles of the clay can been seen through the glaze. The colour of the glaze has been inspired by a walking trail running through a network of fields, between the towns of Leigh and Atherton, in the north of England. This was my favourite Sunday walk! The colour of this piece reminds me of the fading light over the fields of wild grasses, which have been bleached by the summer sun to reveal a soft, milky tone.
Each piece is individual, bearing the same colours and similarities, with subtle differences in glaze and size.
