This vase has been inspired by vintage milk churns. It has been handmade using a dark, stoneware clay, slab-built and hand manipulated to create the form. The handle of this piece has been textured using a small foraged gum nut to add a little detail to this organic shape. It has been hand-painted in a creamy, white tone, light speckles of the clay can been seen through the glaze. The colour of the glaze has been inspired by a walking trail running through a network of fields, between the towns of Leigh and Atherton, in the north of England. This was my favourite Sunday walk! The colour of this piece reminds me of the fading light over the fields of wild grasses, which have been bleached by the summer sun to reveal a soft, milky tone. This piece lends itself to be filled with fresh flowers, foraged foliage or simply just as a decorative piece.
Each piece is individual, bearing the same colours and similarities, with subtle differences in glaze and size.
