The Rainbow Planter has been handmade using a dark, stoneware clay, slab-built and hand manipulated to create the form. The arches of the rainbow have been hand carved in the clay and textured using natural, foraged finds. Hand-painted in a creamy, white tone, light speckles of the clay can been seen through the glaze. The colour of the glaze has been inspired by a walking trail running through a network of fields, between the towns of Leigh and Atherton, in the north of England. This was my favourite Sunday walk! The colour of this piece reminds me of the fading light over the fields of wild grasses, which have been bleached by the summer sun to reveal a soft, milky tone. Please note this planter comes with a water dish to place underneath to catch a small amount of water, please twist the planter around to find the perfect place and fit for the water dish.
Each piece is individual, bearing the same colours and similarities, with subtle differences in glaze and size. The rim of the planter is not perfectly round, you could say "Perfect Imperfect" just how I like it!
Please remember that hand-washing is always kinder to your hand-crafted item.
