This piece has been handmade using an earthy, stoneware clay, slab-built and hand manipulated to create the form. Textured using foraged gum nuts and hand-painted in a creamy, white tone, light speckles of the clay can been seen through the glaze. The Long Causeway platter set is versatile in its use: use as an entertaining platter or separately as a plate and bowl. This piece is named after a walking trail running through a network of fields, between the towns of Leigh and Atherton, in the north of England. This was my favourite Sunday walk! The colour of this set has been inspired by the fading light over the fields of wild grasses, which have been bleached by the summer sun to reveal a soft, milky tone.
Each piece is individual, bearing the same colours and similarities, with subtle differences in glaze and size.
