The Skiddaw Mug is tall, handsome and sturdy and a great feel in the hand. The perfect mug to drink your medicine of choice. This piece has been handmade using an earthy, stoneware clay, slab-built and hand manipulated to create the form. Textured using pine cones foraged from natural surrounds and hand-painted. This piece is named after Skiddaw Mountain in the Lake District National Park, its summit is the sixth highest in England. It is upon this mountain that my husband asked me to marry him! The top of this mountain is cold, rugged and pieces of Skiddaw slate are scattered about. The coldness and feelings of isolation, inspired the icy, blue colour of the glaze. Each piece is individual, bearing the same colours and similarities, with subtle differences in glaze and size. The rim of the mug is not perfectly round, you could say "Perfect Imperfect" just how I like it!
